MG EP: water ingress and battery insulation repair

A returning rental-fleet customer transported this MG EP from Chonburi. The vehicle had a high-voltage leakage-to-chassis problem after water entered the battery enclosure. Even a sealed enclosure can admit moisture after wear, impacts or prolonged exposure to standing water. Moisture can affect battery modules and BMU control boards. The condition of each vehicle needs to be assessed rather than assuming that the entire pack must be replaced. The work described in the original post included: • Opening and inspecting the battery assembly to locate moisture. • Drying the affected modules and BMU boards and checking the electrical readings. • Fitting an additional protective cover intended to reduce further water ingress. The post reports that the vehicle returned to service following the repair. The appropriate solution and cost depend on the actual damage and test results.
